Dr. Warren Finkelstein graduated from the Medical College of Virginia and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the Honor Medical Society. He did his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the Boston City Hospital. Dr. Finkelstein completed his Gastroenterology training at Massachusetts General Hospital where he was a Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology and a Research Fellow in Medicine at the Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Finkelstein is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School. He is Chief of Gastroenterology at the Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, NJ.
Dr. Finkelstein was elected a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, The American College of Gastroenterology and The American College of Physicians. Doctor Finkelstein was elected a Master of the American College of Gastroenterology in October 2010.
Dr. Finkelstein has served in many gastroenterology leadership positions, both nationally and statewide. He served three terms (6 years) as the American College of Gastroenterology Governor for New Jersey and received both the Freshman and Senior Governor of the Year Awards.
Dr. Finkelstein was the National Field Medical Advisory Chairman and a National Trustee of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). He was honored with The Distinguished Service Award by the New Jersey Chapter of the CCFA. He also served as the New Jersey Chapter Medical Advisor Chairman for the CCFA.
Dr. Finkelstein was elected and served as past President of the New Jersey Gastroenterological Society and the New Jersey Endoscopic Society.
Dr. Finkelstein diagnoses and treats all gastrointestinal disorders. His special expertise is in the diagnosis and management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease – Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. He has lectured throughout the United States, Japan, and served on International Inflammatory Bowel Disease roundtables in Europe and Canada. He has presented his clinical experience in the treatment of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meetings and has published several articles on Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Dr. Finkelstein has served as a Manuscript Reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
